The Urgent Care is Hiring an EMT Near Laplace, LA

Looking for a highly motivated and positive EMT to add to our team. Must have a professional, friendly, and enthusiastic phone presence and the ability to interact with patients with a positive CARING impact. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to managing the waiting room, answering phone calls, making appointments, triaging patients, and making sure our patients have a 5-star experience. Ability to provide patients with outstanding patient care by applying best practices and quality service to aid in the health and well-being of our patients, while also standing by the mission and values of The Urgent Care. Candidate must be able to get along well with others and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

The Urgent Care has more than one location, New Orleans, Metairie, LaPlace, Harvey and Gretna. Candidate will commute to all clinics so residing anywhere between both clinics (i.e Kenner, Metairie, New Orleans) or willingness to commute to all facilities is required.

EMT Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with incoming calls from patients regarding medical questions per protocol and addressing their needs professionally and with quality care; scheduling check-in times when necessary
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment, including but not limited to the nurse station, lab, x-ray room, exam tables, and medical equipment daily per policy.
  • Turning over rooms, cleaning and disinfecting exam rooms prior to bringing a new patient into the room.
  • Stocking and restocking supplies
  • Triaging patients, escorting patients to exam rooms from the waiting room
  • Performing labs, administer injections and vaccinations ordered by providers; assist in procedures and exams when necessary
  • Ability to start a line for intravenous infusion and/or hydration
  • Support the patient and provider throughout the patient visit


EMT Qualifications/ Skills

  • Clinical skills, creating a safe, effective environment, procedural skills, inventory control, EKG, blood draw, administer injections, multi-tasking, flexibility, perform vitals assessment and take a blood pressure, knowledge of universal precautions.
  • Ability to start a line for intravenous infusion and/or hydration
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to learn computer software programs; enter and maintain accurate data and statistical information in order to consistently prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials. Critical thinking skills a must.
  • Maintain and perform infection control
  • Pleasant interpersonal demeanor and ability to work with all levels of associates and leadership.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and excellence in healthcare.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-patient volume environment

EMT Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent,
  • Vocational schooling and certificate or 2 years of training with certification or other certification that is maintained including NREMT.
  • Experience with EMRs (Electronic Medical Records) and medical terminology
  • Pass periodic testing triaging patients (ex. taking blood pressure)
  • Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials through personal and professional development
  • BLS certified within 90 days of employment
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a PLUS*
  • Open and flexible availability (with a minimum of 20-30 hours per week)
  • Ability to commute between two of our five clinics (*if necessary. Locations are in Mid-City/New Orleans, Metairie, LaPlace, Gretna/Westbank, Harvey/Westbank)
